clarky

What is your name?

Cameron Clark (@clarkendama)

Where is home?

Glasgow has always been and always will be my home.

How/when did kendama/SK become part of your life and who was involved?

I was first introduced to Kendama in @HadoukenTrickingAcademy about 8 years ago. It took me a couple of years to actually pick one up and start playing but after that I was hooked.

Fast forward another couple of years and I met Paul in the very same tricking gym that I first saw Kendama. After a few months of regular jamming, Paul asked me to help him push SK and invited me on to the team to help out and organise events. The rest is history.

Describe your play-style in three words.

Fun. Creative. Trapeze.

Preferred string length/wood type/shape etc.

I currently play around a ten finger string. My favourite dama is the bamboo 1UP from Sol Kendamas. I love the way bamboo plays, feels and smells and the 1UP shape is heavenly.

What is your most cherished kendama memory?

SKO 2019!!! After months of planning and stress the weekend was so worth it. Seeing how many people turned up from so many different places to compete and support SK was overwhelming and it reinforced my view that kendama has the best, most supportive scene out there.

What else are you passionate about?

My two biggest passions apart from Kendama are probably juggling and camping. I have also recently got into bushcraft with Paul and hope to develop these skills in the years to come.

What music do you listen to?

Anything really. I’m lucky enough to have friends with all different music tastes which has helped expand my music catalogue. But if I had to pick one genre it would be jazz.

Fun fact about yourself?

Black belt in Taekwondo.

Final thoughts/shout-outs

I want to thank Paul and Marius for pushing me every day to be a better player and for being the best guys to work with. Also, a massive shoutout to anyone who has ever come to a jam, shared our content or copped from the website. The support from you guys over the last few years has been astronomical  and SK could not exist without you. It’s given me the opportunity to travel, meet so many phenomenal people and to play Kendama every day and for that I’m forever grateful. Much Love.
